Interchangeable Holiday Plaques

I got this idea from one of my favorite crafting blogs, Shanty2Chic, but decided to put a little twist on it. I really loved the idea for their Christmas Joy Plaques, but being the poor college student that I am I couldn't bring myself to create something that cute that would only get used at Christmas...so I came up with these beauties that are interchangeable. For now all I have completed is Valentines...but there will be more to come.

The items I used were:
1- 1x6x4 board from Lowes cut into 4x6 pieces
2- 6" candlesticks from Hobby Lobby
1- 3" candlestick from Hobby Lobby
3- circle blocks from Hobby Lobby
3- finials from Michaels Crafts
spray paint
1 pkg- 3/8"x2" dowel pins from Lowes
gorilla glue
Ralph Lauren Glaze
drill
3/8" drill bit
sandpaper
making memories LOVE stamps

use the 3/8" drill bit to drill holes into the candlestick, finial and the blocks

glue the candlesticks to the circle blocks

paint the candlesticks and the finials. After they are dry use the sandpaper and distress the edges. Then I used the Ralph Lauren Glaze introduced to me by the girls at Shanty2Chic, which is now one of my must haves when crafting!!

glue the dowel pins in the candlesticks and the finials using gorilla glue.

paint your blocks the desired color...

 distress the edges with sandpaper...

of course use the glaze...paint it on and wipe it off...

then use some stamps or stencils for your desired look ( I used Making Memories LOVE stamps)

I decided to start a crafting blog where I can document and keep track of the things that I have made. I'm not gonna lie...things don't get made very often because I am a full time college student who is also working part time and have a husband to take care of, so...my projects are few and far between when I have time and when I actually have money to purchase the items needed for my projects. But, occasionally something actually gets completed and when they do, I will put them up on here.
